Royds School in Oulton, Leeds, recently appointed us to install two new science laboratories following the work we completed for them in 2013 on two other laboratories. The school also asked us to supply all of the furniture for its recently refurbished Post 16 Centre, which included tables and seating for an ICT room, classrooms and breakout areas.

The design and fit-out for the Post 16 Centre was completed in a very tight timescale, as we received the brief just one month before the school’s summer shut down. The client decided to work with us on the project after we took them to see the furniture we had supplied and installed for St Wilfred’s 6th Form College.

The school had just completed the refurbishment of its Post 16 Centre to cater for increasing student numbers and wanted to achieve a professional, inspiring environment, as Pat Noble, Site Manager for Royds School, explains:

“Demand for post 16 learning at Royds School has rapidly increased over the past few years, so we felt it was time to invest in the refurbishment of our Post 16 Centre. We were particularly impressed with the modern look and style of the work Claughtons had completed for other schools and colleges in the past so wanted to work with them on the project to create a great environment for our current and future sixth form students.

“At the same time, we also wanted to continue with the upgrading of our science facilities. Last year Claughtons re-fitted two of our laboratories and the students loved them. We invited the team back this year to complete a further two laboratories and will be refurbishing another two next year. It makes such as difference to our students and staff to work in state of the art facilities – we are very impressed with Claughtons’ quality of craftsmanship and look forward to working with them in the future.”
