Desking:

Standard desk and bench desk work surfaces will be constructed from durable, scratch resistant 25mm MFC medium density fibreboard with a matching impact resistant 2mm PVC heat bonded edge in a colour and finish of your choice from our catalogue.  Other material options and colours are available to be specified should you require.

Leg frames are typically manufactured from 18mm MFC fibreboard or extremely durable and rigid, fully welded mild steel, which is epoxy powder coated in a colour of your choice.  To cater for uneven floor surfaces panel legs and metal leg frames are fitted with adjustable feet.  

The design of leg frames are such that it is possible to install data cabling and power outlets either in three compartment PVC trunking below the desk surface on the modesty panels or in the case of our bench desking system in a purpose made cable tray, accessible via the sliding desktop.  This has the benefit of facilitating connections to computer hardware via portholes in the desk surface so reducing the amount of visible cabling making the office space appear clean and tidy.  

ICT Desking & Benches:

In ICT rooms leg frames are typically manufactured from extremely durable and rigid, fully welded mild steel, which is epoxy powder coated in a colour of your choice.  To cater for uneven floor surfaces leg frames are fitted with adjustable fixing feet.  The design of leg frames for ICT rooms are such that it is possible to install data cabling and power outlets in three compartment PVC trunking below the desk surface on the modesty board.  This has the benefit of facilitating connections to computer hardware via portholes in the desk surface. This massively reduces the amount of visible cabling on the desk surface, providing a much neater finish when the ICT is installed and also reduces the propensity for users to tamper with the cabling.  We also manufacture a range of tamper resistant furniture designed to streamline to look of your ICT suites by incorporating the technology into the furniture.  Equipment is accessible but difficult to tamper with or adjust.  This makes this solution ideal for libraries, open access areas and resource centres.

Storage Benching:

Standard office storage bench surfaces are constructed from durable, scratch resistant 25mm MFC medium density fibreboard with a matching impact resistant 2mm PVC heat bonded edge in a colour and finish of your choice from our catalogue.  Other material options and colours are available to be specified should you require.

Benching in Technology or Art areas can be specified with a heavy duty work surface constructed from 40mm beech block which is extremely durable and ideal for a workshop environment.  Edges are CNC machined to a smooth ‘chamfer’ and all joints are grooved, biscuited and secured with metal joint plates

Bench surfaces for Laboratory and Food Technology Rooms is typically constructed from 16mm solid grade Trespa or 25mm thick Velstone.  A range of surface finishes for both products are available.  Edges are CNC machined to a smooth ‘chamfer’ and all joints are grooved, biscuited and secured with metal joint plates.  Matching rear up stands are standard and down stands may be specified to the front of the bench surface if desired.  Trespa and Velstone surfaces are resistant to stains, chemicals, heat, impact, abrasion and scratches and are extremely hygienic being easy to clean and disinfect.

Typically work surfaces are supported on cupboard carcasses constructed from 18mm MFC medium density fibreboard laminate in a colour and finish of your choice from our catalogue.  In food technology and laboratory environments a lower plinth will be constructed from 18mm moisture resistant fibreboard, which will be sealed against moisture. All plinth and carcasses will be lipped with matching impact resistant 2mm PVC heat bonded to the edges.   However, if required, benching may also be supported by a fully welded mild steel cantilever framework which is epoxy powder coated in a matching or contrasting colour to the bench surface / backboard.  Optional removable backboard panels may be specified which will be constructed from 18mm MFC medium density fibreboard laminate in a colour and finish of your choice from our catalogue, below the benching to obscure pipe work and service feeds with a gap below so that the floor can be cleaned to the skirting board.  Matching décor ends are fitted to exposed carcases to finish bench runs off.

Storage:

Doors and Draw Fronts:

Drawers are manufactured using metal drawer sides incorporating a white 18mm thick MFC drawer bottom and back making drawers extremely durable even if heavy objects are placed inside.  Drawer fronts are manufactured from matching or contrasting 18mm MFC medium density fibreboard laminate in a colour and finish of your choice from our catalogue.  Drawer units are mounted on high impact nylon rollers on metal runners with a soft close mechanism and incorporate a lift off safety feature. All draw fronts are lipped with matching impact resistant 2mm PVC heat bonded edge.

Cupboard doors are manufactured from matching 18mm MFC medium density fibreboard laminate in a colour and finish of your choice from our catalogue and are lipped with matching impact resistant 3mm PVC heat bonded edge.  Door hinges are heavy duty 170 degree adjustable hinges for safety and extra resilience and the appropriate number of hinges are specified dependent upon door size.  

Sliding doors are also available if specified.  Solid or glass doors are mounted on inset tracking with inset door mounted rollers in solid doors top and bottom.

Handles & Locks:

A range of handles and locks are available.  ‘D’ Shape, ‘Bow’ or recessed cup handles can be fitted to drawers and doors and screwed securely in place.  Locks can be fitted as on option and can be ‘like keyed’ (all locks use same key) or individually keyed as required.

Shelves:

In all under bench cupboards (unless otherwise specified) there will be one fixed (lower) shelf and one adjustable shelf.  In larger cupboards several shelves can be specified and they will be fully adjustable. Shelves are manufactured from 18mm MFC medium density fibreboard laminate in a matching colour and lipped with matching impact resistant 2mm PVC heat bonded edge.  Shelves are mounted on screw in metal pins and secured in place with inset plastic encapsulations to stop them sliding out of the cabinets when items are removed.  25mm thick shelves and metal tonk strips can be specified for heavy duty shelves if required.  

Tray Storage Units:

We standardise on the Gratnalls tray storage systems.  Tray storage units will be fitted with high quality Gratnells runners allowing flexibility for positioning shallow, deep or jumbo plastic Gratnalls trays.  The full range of Gratnalls trays are available in all colours.  Please see our catalogue for availability.

Infill Panels, Décor Ends & Corner Posts:

Where furniture items are fitted matching infill panels, décor ends and corner posts will be made from 18mm MFC medium density fibreboard laminate in a matching colour, lipped with a matching impact resistant 2mm PVC heat bonded edge.  Infill panels and corner posts will be fitted to provide the correct spacing into internal corners to prevent doors and draws opening without clashing, and to neatly finish off spaces with no under bench storage.  Décor ends are fitted to benching runs and scribed back to the wall to create a neat finish and cloak service voids.
